How long should I keep my temperature up to fully eradicate ich?

After I released my new tank additions into my tank, I noticed my Rainbow shark rubbing against the sand and ornaments. I believe this is a minor ich infestation so I heated my tank up to 87 degrees and dosed some salt. How long should I keep up this temperature to make sure the parasite is fully eradicated?

I would only heat it to 84 degrees and it takes 2 weeks to kill

I wouldn't use salt either, but that is just me.

I only did a 50% salt dosing, so it's not a big deal. I figured it would help some.

Is it normal to sometimes not be able to see the actual cysts? Because he's exhibiting the symptoms, I just can't seem to find the cyst.

Then it may be a different type of parasite.
