How Long Have You Been In The Hobby?

I have been in the hobby for 2 months and 2 days and I already have four tanks! Two ten gallons, one 5.5 and one 55 gallon.

 

Technically over 8 years, but everything before the past year, almost 2 years now, was a series of learning and winging it and making a lot of mistakes so I don’t tend to count it lol.

On and off for 6 years, seriously for about 9 months. Also got bit with the MTS bug and now have three tanks up and running.

 

50 years mate.

Started keeping Sticklebacks in a water butt at age six, then got a tiny 18" glass aquarium and kept Stone Loaches for years until I made it tropical with a pair of Platies, then got an old double 24" tank set on an iron stand and had a community on top and a planted tank on the bottom. Kribs were the stars.

Had a break while at university (my parents sold my tanks) but was straight back into it after studies and never looked back.

Now I have six Clown Loaches which I bought in Jan 1995.

 

I don't know how many total years, but I've been a member here for just over 10 years now.

 

About 2 years now!

 

1 and a half years! Its amzeing how much you can learn in such little time.... These last months my knowledge has gone up so much on fish keeping.

 

My baby crib was an old fish tank! Joking but got my first 5G at about age 10 with 2 goldfish and an underground filter ( we didn’t know better). Then upgraded to 2 10G’s still with Goldie’s. Been raising Goldie’s off and on ever since. So, let’s see...a long, long, long time!

 

On and off since we got our first poor Betta in a bowl 10 years ago and learned very quickly how to keep fish better.

In the last 10 years I've had fish tanks for all but maybe 2 years. At the height of it (about 8 years ago) we had 6 or 7 tanks (Like seriously one in every room, including the kitchen!) then chilled quite a bit and sorta as the population aged out we shrunk down from there.

Then we just got another tank recently just started back into it after our tank free hiatus actually because I am having horrible allergies and can't garden outside this year, and I remembered how much I loved my little indoor gardens and aquascapes so I dug out an old 10G I'd kept and cycled it.... and then my daughter started planting and cycling a Betta tank and then I found another tank cheap on craigslist and started planning out my amazon tank.... and then I would like shellies or sparkling gouramis... and then.....

My poor husband is baffled.

 

Ive been in the hobby for about a month and a half and my first real tank (not including 5gal fish bowls) kicked off with a 55gal and rescue fish. I'm already getting another hexagonal tank for some koi angelfish!!

Lol its shows up as Malaysian trumpet snails! You man Multiply Tank Syndrome? I had that when I had over 10 tanks.... It was painful.
