How Long For Java Moss To Grow

My java moss is only 4 days old so I won't trim it until it starts to grow. I'm just curious about how long it will be before it starts to grow and attach itself to rocks I have in tank. It's a 30 gallon tank.

It really depends on your lighting, minerals in the water, whether you use ferts, CO2, etc. I'm assuming it would start growing as soon as you add it, but it may be weeks before you notice any change. My java moss doesn't really attach itself to anything, it mostly just spreads outwards in a rough ball shape.

Low lighting, no ferts. Right now I have gravel, but plan on going with black sand that is said to help plants grow.

Patience, take a look at my post / pics in member tanks. The Java Moss is around 3 months growth. I do use liquid ferts. Low to medium lighting. Hope this helps.

Mine attaches itself to everything - ornaments, other plants. I'm giving it away in large portions, already . Once it gets going, it grows fast. It's not a nuisance, though, it looks good and my fish love it..esp. the snails, shrimp, and KuhlI loaches(to hide in). It's grown under low light and medium, no ferts, and just Leaf Zone. I briefly tried Flourish in a couple tanks but didn't care for the contents, so discontinued use.
