How long does it take for a fish to digest food?

This morning, I thawed out some brine shrimp under running water and added it to my aquarium. The fish went nuts.

A small cluster of brine shrimp hit the bottom and within a few minutes, two of the danios gorged themselves on it and they're bellies are super full. It's gotta be uncomfortable for them.

I remember reading it takes a fish approximately 24 hours to digest their food, but due to the scarcity of it in the wild, they eat whenever it's available. It's in their DNA....not that I've ever passed up a meal.

Yeah I read that it takes 24 hours. IMO I would be feeding my fish every other day rather than twice a day or daily. It's quite a good habit.

I do feed my fish every other day and I switch it up. I feed them flakes. I usually feed them blood worms or brine shrimp every few days. I'll toss in an veggie round too and a few sinking pellets.
