How long did it take for your betta to settle in and interact with you?

I recently got a new betta, and he currently spends much of his time glass surfing and picking at the plants and substrate. He also ignores me and stuff I put against the tank. I know that bettas need some time to get used to their new environment, so I'm wondering how long did it take for your betta to start to recognize and interact with you and start showing their true personality?

Around 2 weeks to a month for my bettas to settle and start begging for food once they saw me.

1-2 weeks. Depends on a betta, each one is different and unique

Couple minutes
But he was also in a big 20G tank when I bought him and not in a tiny cup

Took mine a few weeks. They still glass surf a bit but its slowly going away. They always beg for food though. Every fish is different, especially betta. They have big personalities and will all be diffident when it comes to the amount of time it takes them to settle in.

About a week for me. He still does glass surf a little, but it isn't nearly as excessive. He would spend all his time glass surfing, and when I came up to the tank, he would swim away and hide in a corner.
After a while he started to explore more, and stopped being so afraid of me.

He still probably thinks of me as "the huge creature who feeds me, and invades my personal space every week to suck out all my precious, hard worked-for poop with that tubey, see through thingy"
He probably gets kind of mad at me when I do water changes because he gets swept around in the current, but I just laugh.

I want to train him to jump for food, now that I've had him for 5 months.

It took us around an hour or two maybe? I taught him a trick on the second day. It depends on the fish though, it may take a while or they might just be on the shy side.

Took my guy about three minutes! How long have you had yours? Also, can you tell us about your tank to make sure the glass surfing isn't a sign of something else? Size, temp, ammonia/nitrite/nitrate, tankmates, etc.

I am not OP.
My tank wasn't cycled when I added him so maybe that had something to do with it? I have long since gone through the completed a fish-in cycle, so he acts normal now. My parameters are at 0, 0, and 10.

I’ve had my new betta for 3 weeks now and he still does a little bit of glass surfing, but other than that he started exploring the tank and flaring at me on the second day I’d say. He would “bite” my finger if I try to move something, he’s super excited to eat every time and can even jump a little to bite me if my finger is above the surface (He did this on his third day with me and none of my bettas did this before so I was very surprised). All in all, bettas are really all unique and have such amazing personalities, so it really depends how fast they’ll start recognizing you and interacting with you. My little guy was flaring at me when I looked at him in that tiny cup in a pet shop, mostly why I chose him as well.

About a week for him to actually start swimming up to the front of the tank when he saw me. He was really shy at first, but now he's a tough guy.
