How long can Oscars sulk for??

Hey all,

I bought some artificial ivy to put on the outside of my Oscar tank today and I put it up and I think he’s really annoyed with me. He’s been in the top right hand corner since I put it up, which was about 12hours ago. Can Oscar’s really sulk for this long? I even put a couple of feeder fish in the tank and he doesn’t even care. I’ve had him for nearly two years and he’s a healthy fish.

Should I be doing anything? Or it’ll just take time for him to adjust to the new background? They really are precious fish aren’t they.

Well you should never feed those ever just a heads up. And give him a couple days he will stop.

I think the Oscar might be dealing with fear rather than sulking.
I'm not sure if fish actually sulk, but they do react to stimulus percieved as being harmful or dangerous.

I don't know what was originally on the outside of the aquarium before the ivy, but maybe the fish is seeing a reflection of itself for the first time and is thinking there is an imposter/intruder in its territory

Some fish can act very oddly when they come face to face with themselves...they either try to attack it, sulk at it, be very unsure about it or just ignore it
