Ive been waiting for my tank to cycle for 8 days and haven't had my Ammonia levels drop or my Nitrites rise, how long does it usually take to get a nitrite spike when cycling?

It usually takes about 3 weeks for the ammonia to drop and nitrite appear if you did not use a bacteria additive.

Do you have any idea what your pH is? And what is your water temp?

Lower pH can make cycling take longer, and a higher temp (80 or so) can speed things up a bit.

On the fifth day in our 10 gallon fish and plant in cycle we already see the slightest tinge of purple in the base blue color with nitrites @ 75 F and 7.6 PH. We keep the original zero sample to use as a comparative reference.

Thank you, I did not know heat played a role in cycling, my tank is unheated because it is going to be used for wcmm, I guess patientnce is key

With fish keeping, patience is almost always the key.
