How Does The Sunsun Hw-3000 And Odyssea Cfs 1200 Canister Filters Compare To The Fluval Fx6 ?

Been looking at the sunsun 304, 404 and 704 A and b models (with & without uv)

And trying to compare them quality and price wise to the fluval fx6, marineland 530 and to the diy 5 gallon bucket canister filter.

During my research I saw sunsun has a hw-3000 which is much larger. I also came across the Odyssea CFS 1200 i14 Canister Filter.

People seem split on whether sunsun is a good brand or not and I've never heard of Odyssea.

I have a 100 gallon aquarium and want 1 good quality filter that turns it over a lot and provides a lot of filtration allowing for heavy stocking if I wanted to.

How do the Odyssea CFS 1200, Sunsun hw-3000, marineland 530 & fluval fx6 compare and would they be better then buying 2 smaller sunsun filters or making a diy filter?

Sn: I am worried about a diy flooding if moved or with power loss.

Well I have had Sunsun for 7-8 years after my Marineland failed after 2 years. Works fine, last long time. Your only going to need 1000 gph for your 100 gallon tank rated from the manufactures specs.

I think it's best to use two filters, one a canister and one a HOB to get your 1000 gph (or 2 canisters) . Just in case one fails, the other works.

Always get a $12 water alarm to put around the canisters or aquarium.

Water alarm? I have never heard of such. Could you provide a link to what your referring to please? Also how would you compare your sunsuns to your marinelands?

Water alarm...

I have these under my aquarium, under my sinks, by my water heater and by both furnaces.

As far as comparisons, my Marineland failed, my Sunsun going strong. But that is just me. I'm sure others have had better luck. Can beat the price of a Sunsun.

I know they are the best priced ones I've seen although their 796 gph is the same as the odyssea 1200 which does the same gph

I would still go with 2 500gph filters anyway.

Do the UV lights work in the filters and are they really needed? 2 of the sunsun 500gph just about match the price of one sunsun 796 gallon even though the canister size looks close to that of the fluval fx6. Your probably right. Any issues with leaks or noise from your sunsun?

I think the UV lights built into canisters is a gimmick. I have one but don't use it. They move too much water across too little light to work. Best to use a separate UV light with adjustable water flow... when you need it.

My Sunsun along with thousands and thousands of others is working just fine.

Actually this canister is made by Sunsun. You should get 2 of these as the price is right.

Ignore the UV light...
