How do you use emojis in text?

I've seen so many people using emojis in text but can't work out how to do it myself! It just seems like it's uselfull to tell people how you are trying to say something as often it can be interpreted many different ways. Sorry if this has already been discusses or if I posted in the wrong place (been on here for a while and still not 100% sure how to use it lol). Thanks in advance

There are others but I can't think of them right now.

 

I will put a hyphen in between characters, but when you do it, don't use a hyphen, here are the ones I know:

Maybe it's different on the app (if you have it) as I don't get that. Thanks for all your help though!

 

Should be right above where you’re typing. Starting with the B for bold, I for italic. Just right of center is a little happy face, select it, you get a selection. Pick one. My iPad virtual keyboard has a emoji button, I get quite a selection.

 

If you don't see it, I'll give you the rest, it says how to do them, for these I just capitalized the first letter (All but the last, for that take out the hyphen, though not the underscore), so just make those lowercase and you'll get them:

:Confused: =

:Cool: =

:Eek: =

:Oops: =

:Rolleyes: =

I’m also on iPad, the forum doesn’t recognise the iPad ones.

I don't know why but all of the symbols (b, I etc.) Come up as a faded black so I can't click on them. I might try downloading the app at some point to see if that works

Oh yeah, I get that, I believe there is a toggle, it may be the settings button? Try pushing all of the buttons, one of them should unlock it.
