How do you repair acrylic tank?

HI all,
Today I am picking up a 75 gallon hexagon acrylic tank-with light (not working) and a piece broken (but have it) where the filter hangs. I am not sure how to proceed to fix the tank.
What type of bonding is safe for fish?
My plan is to attach acrylic to both sides of the tank to secure the broken piece-does this sound like the right thing to do?
Help please!

For acrylic that are 100% air tight, use acrylic cement. otherwise use I believe acrylic weld-on 4

Thank you for your response. I plan to use two pieces of acrylic (inside piece and outside piece for support) as the broken piece was given to me but I am not sure if that will work. It is at the top and back of the tank where the filter sits so I want it secure Will this be safe for the fish?

can you shoot an of it? it will help. typically as acrylic goes, it does not need any support except a cross brace if the tank is big but an will help determine what you need
