How do you feel when you have to rehome your beloved fish?

I have a 6 year old angel that was 'forced' to move to a 30gal by ME (since my 75gal leaked). He doesn't look like he's angry but it's cramped for him in there. I'm looking to rehome him, but I feel like all the people who are interested in the fish have been either uncertain if they want him, have a small tank, or look suspicious to me that I don't feel like trusting them enough. This fish has been with me for longer than any fish I've owned so it's hard to let him go. I can get him another tank which I totally can afford, but parents will think I'm crazy and won't allow that. Sorry for the long post, but what do you feel if you have to rehome your fish? Also what'd you do if you were me?

It looks like he is the only fish in the tank. To be honest, yes he maybe a bit big for the tank, but you should keep him as there will never be a person you trust enough to take good care of him. You love him, he has a beautiful tank, that is more than a lot of fish have. He is lucky to have you as an owner....keep him and continue to take good care of him.

It might not be the ideal tank size for the Angelfish, but the light research I did on the internet said it's fine for one Angelfish. I would keep him because I think you would miss him. I think the long time you had him made the fish very special. I would only give up something when I'm at peace with the decision because I can't get it back. I'm not sure if you really asked your parents about getting a slightly bigger fish tank, but I would. They might not think you're crazy and understand.

What will you do when you move out or college or pay your own way? Will you have to give it up then?
I have had to give up fish before, mostly for aggressiveness. I do not like it but for the good of other fish and the fish itself, it had to be done.
Ask yourself, will you buy another fish that can get big enough that you don't have the control over your surroundings and self to take care of it?
It is a hard choice. Good luck.

I think I said so to the OP in another thread: It's better to keep that fish. Usually I'd say rehome.
But:
It's not because of anything mentioned before here in this thread. It's because angelfish in that size and age are hard to integrate into an existing group somebody else might keep. It's a high risk that it gets killed by other angels (or kills them depending on size.)
So I would rather keep him, possibly get at least a 40 gallon tank, but I think alone it will be fine in that tank.

So, keep it, it's nothing wrong about that. Maybe keep just some cories with it and give away the other few fish in the tank and be done.

Try not to get emotional. Because you’d miss him isn’t a good reason to keep it.

Do what would make the fish happiest.

I did some quick research and it said that angel fish should live in a tank no smaller than 20 gallons. He should be fine. You don't know the conditions of other owners, or how they'll treat him. Only give him away if you have no other option and you know your fish will be cared for well.

Thats a nice angel and amazing tank, id keep him in that and current stock. Looks like you have plenty of filtration and take care of the tank. I feel like he's fine there.

what’s the plan with the leaking 75g? can you keep him until the 75 is repaired or replaced?
