"The Minnows Band"
I never named my fish either until my son came along and was old enough to decide they needed names. I had one particular goldfish when young that had a name before that but for a couple decades he was the only fish I'd named out of many many fish.... My son keeps track and corrects me if I get one wrong so I just mostly refer to them by scientific species names now so he can start learning a bit more without me boring him lolI don't name my fish, and I have never had an urge to......am I alone?

Newton, Einstein, Archimedes, Aristotle, Copernicus,
if you stare at them for a long time every day you can tell them apart I can tell alll 7 of my neons apartWe always just called our neons "the tetras" because there was no way to tell them apart (that I know of)
They're not schoolers, but in our community tank everything is referred to by species. Usually the names we do use we arrive at on accident, like we never deliberately name them, we just start referring to them a certain way.
We have a bunch of swordtails that we refer to by their color and their sex. So there's the red male, the green male, the orange female, the koi female, etc.
The fry? Everywhere. We call them Philip Js (after the Futurama character)
check for chipped fins it really helps if you look close enough. I have one that has a chipped tail that won't heal, his name is mobilI can only tell who 5 of them are. They were my 5 original neons. The way I tell is they are bigger then the rest.
Not for long though
Lol..good oneI have 16 or 18 Columbia tetras. Rather than naming them I call them "The Cartel".
Guppies - The Lylas (which includes Molly, Mahina, & Cosmo)
Golden Barbs (juvenile) - The Golden Girls
Golden Barbs - The Goldbergs
Scissortail Rasboras - The Edward Scissortails
Marble Hatchets - The Pearlettes (they're the backup group to our Pearlscale Angel named Pearl)
Rummynose Tetras - The Mean Girls ('cause they kept shafting one of our Zebra Danios who kept trying to tag along and join their clique...lol)
Pea Puffers - The Puffs (which includes Tupac, Biggie Smalls, & Puff. Prolly gonna get one more and name him Ma$e to round off the crew. We're breaking barriers in our tank...bringing the East & West Coast rap game together... )
Harlequin Rasboras - Harley & Quin
We have more but those are the ones we named as a group or a pair.
And no, they're not all in the same tank. I have several.
