I’ve never kept any shoaling fish, but I would probably call them the San Antonio Spurs.

I don't name my fish, and I have never had an urge to......am I alone?
I never named my fish either until my son came along and was old enough to decide they needed names. I had one particular goldfish when young that had a name before that but for a couple decades he was the only fish I'd named out of many many fish.... My son keeps track and corrects me if I get one wrong so I just mostly refer to them by scientific species names now so he can start learning a bit more without me boring him lol

My harlequin Rasboras are The Swarm. Only one has a name, Little Stressy. He’s smaller than the rest and stresses out when I turn on the light or turn it off or change the water or deal with a plants or test the water or get my face too close. You get the picture? Lol. The single fish don’t have names at this point.

We always just called our neons "the tetras" because there was no way to tell them apart (that I know of)
They're not schoolers, but in our community tank everything is referred to by species. Usually the names we do use we arrive at on accident, like we never deliberately name them, we just start referring to them a certain way.
We have a bunch of swordtails that we refer to by their color and their sex. So there's the red male, the green male, the orange female, the koi female, etc.
The fry? Everywhere. We call them Philip Js (after the Futurama character)

My danios are Pouncey House. They're named for the residence hall where the NGBRI used to be housed before our asylum was closed.

I’ll hbe a hard time doing that when I upgrade next year. I have a tank with Borneo loaches with wcmm. Only have 2 loaches at the moment one bigger than the other so got ‘meede’ (medium) & ‘momma’ for he big one. We had a third that died called Waldo cause was so tiny you could n bet find him. No names for wcmm. Other tanks have other fish easy to tell apart and abchinese algae eater Sami with that tank nicest Chinese algae eater ever. Works well with that tank zero issues. Next year going for a massive river bio tank so there will be like 10 Borneo’s not including any breeding that happens. Hen they will lose their names

I just name the whole school there so hard to tell apart. My skirt tetras are "the tag team" my diamond tetras are "AllI baba and the 40 theaves" the albino corys are "the Casper squad" the centerpiece fishes and the plecos all have there own names.

I've always thought naming fish was a necessary thing to do after you buy fish. I've always wondered about schooling fish since you can't tell them apart. Then I immediately thought of giving all of them a team name, so yeah.

Guppies - The Lylas (which includes Molly, Mahina, & Cosmo)
Golden Barbs (juvenile) - The Golden Girls
Golden Barbs - The Goldbergs
Scissortail Rasboras - The Edward Scissortails
Marble Hatchets - The Pearlettes (they're the backup group to our Pearlscale Angel named Pearl)
Rummynose Tetras - The Mean Girls ('cause they kept shafting one of our Zebra Danios who kept trying to tag along and join their clique...lol)
Pea Puffers - The Puffs (which includes Tupac, Biggie Smalls, & Puff. Prolly gonna get one more and name him Ma$e to round off the crew. We're breaking barriers in our tank...bringing the East & West Coast rap game together... )
Harlequin Rasboras - Harley & Quin

We have more but those are the ones we named as a group or a pair.
And no, they're not all in the same tank. I have several.

I Have names my schooling fish but they get called whatever name I can remember regardless of if they are that name of not. My mollies are named and I can tell them apart. My big bunch of juveniles were called the Magnificent 7 as a whole, but then Crystal and Charcoal died so now it's the magnificent 5.
