How Do My Discus Look

I have 3 ~3-4in discus in my main 55 gallon tank; had them for around 3-4 weeks and eating like champs. I have 2 ~5-6in discus in a qt who aren't eating really at all. Ive had them for almost 2 weeks. I'm hoping when I put them in with my other discus they will learn from them and start eating. I have 2 blue turquoise and 1 Marlboro (definitely spelled that wrong) in my main tank, and the melons in the qt. How do they all look? The yellow one in my qt looks like it has a bulge underneath it around where its chin would be.

 

They all look fine. I don’t see anything on the yellow Mellon. More pics will be needed. Looks like the ones in the 55 are younger than the qt fish. What ar3 you feeding them. Where did you get them? 2 weeks they should be eating. What is the temp in th3 tank.

Ive been feeding them mainly omega 1 color enhancing flakes, bloodworms, cichlid pellets, and brine shrimp. I can't get them to eat beef heart for some reason. I got them all at 2 different fish stores near me. In both tanks it is 84F because I have plants and tankmates.

 

Raising the temp to 86 really got my new discus to eat.....what kind of tank mates

 

84 is fine. What were the stores feeding them. Most don’t feed beef heart it just to messy. Try Australian freeze dried black worms. Found at simply discus and on eBay. I feed the ones with spinach. What are the tankmates??

They were feeding them frozen bloodworms mainly, which the new discus won't even touch. Both tanks are overstocked, the 55 gallon being very overstocked which I'm working on. In the qt, there are: 2 discus, 1 F betta, 1 gold ram, 3 green corys, 1 bn pleco, and 6 neons. The 55 gallon has: 3 discus, 4 angelfish, 1 bn pleco, 9 cardinal tetras, 3 sterbaI corys, 2 sunset thicklipped gouramis, 4 khulI loaches and a blue ram. All the fish are juvies so when it gets too much I want to rehome 2 angelfish and either one or both the gouramis.

 

Me I’m no fan of discus and angels together. If you like the black bar look on your discus than ok. But angels will allways outeat your discus. Gouramis too and I think the water is way to warm for them. Cardinals and Cory’s are great. Khulis not sure about but never recommended. Rams and pleco are also ok.

Frozen bloodworms are not the best and should just be fed as treats. Check out the thread discus gang updates. Introduce yourself ask questions. Lots of great people there doing just what you and me are doing.

The discus are bigger than the angelfish and trust me, they are just as aggressive during mealtime as the angelfish lol. I only feed the bloodworms maybe once a week, they are mainly on pellets and flakes. Ive heard that khulis are great tank mates for discus? Ill take a look at the discus gang threads!

Beef heart makes the fish big and fat but it is not healthy for them. Therefore it is suggested not to feed beef heart. Bloodwarms are also not the healthiest thing in the world for Discus bus as you are feeding it once a week its fine. Also has a lot of fat in it.

I was told this also. It was only later that I found out that Stendker feed their discus beefheart and nothing else that I decided to question it. I find that on a more meaty diet the discus start to get, for want of a better word, broad.
