Under the Aquarium Fish Forum tab, click on Community and then Group. When you get there, there is a spot at the top of the page that says "create group"

  3. melovefishValued MemberMember

im sorry but for me its not there

oh you know, maybe you have to have at least 50 posts before you can start one????

Some areas are limited to that until you get to the 50 + posts. You'll get there in no time and Welcome to Fishlore!

You do need a minimum amount of posts.
    Not sure how many though.

Why not join an existing group? :)

If it would be better for me to start my own thread, but since it's such a simple question...can someone explain what groups are? I've never seen them before :)
  7. LucyModeratorModerator Member

Social groups that members create to discuss things they have in common.

I'm not a big fan of them.
Sometimes the creators or members don't check the groups very often.
I see new members who find themselves there rather than the forum.
They ask a question that goes unnoticed and that's sad.

They are like little clubs - usually for specific fish or sometimes for nothing at all. If you click on the "community" tab at the top and then select "groups" you will see a list of the different groups that are there.

Thanks for explaining Lucy (edit: and oscarsbud ;)) :) I wonder if removing the feature has ever been considered. Sounds like it is often both neglected and not helpful (when new members go there instead of the forums), and with social media it would be easy for members with common interests to discuss ideas outside the forums.

    It's been discussed. :)

Have to say, it's an area of the forum where you all can go OT without our interference. lol
Of course, FL rules still apply. ;)

I understand about questions not being answered and agree that questions should be kept in the forum itself. But I just joined a group and I kind of like it because you don't have to worry about staying on topic. Sometimes one thing leads to another and we end up talking about something entirely different than what was originally started. You can't do that in the forum, and understandably so, because it detracts from the problem and solutions put forth by members trying to help. Just my own opinion.

    :;nin2'd again :)

Well the lasses group was created because a few of us had an issue staying on topic, like now... without it we would be in tons of trouple lol..

    NOTHING! :;a1

Do posts in the groups apply to your post count?
  18. LucyModeratorModerator Member

From what I have observed. No.
  19. ryanrModeratorModerator Member

No, they don't. Same as Visitor messages don't count as a post. Only posts in the Forum count.

As for the minimum post requirements, I'm not 100% sure, it will either be 25 posts (required for Blogs), or 50 posts (for PM, Buy/Sell/Trade/Free)

do I have enough post to start a group?

I was wondering if I have enough post to start a group
