So I bought a air pump that plugs into a wall port and turns on only when there's no power. Perfect. EXCEPT, I want it operating the same bubblers that my powered air pump will be operating when there is power.
I need this switch-over to happen automatically without me being home.
Initially, I figured I would set it up with both pumps joined by a Y tube connector with check valves between both pumps and the Y connector. Then the air hose runs down to the bubblers in the tank.
Will this work or will each pump be sending air to the other non-operational pump? Do check valves prevent air as well as water from going into the pumps in which case my idea should work?
Thanks for any help you can send me! If you have a better solution, please let me know your setup and what I need to buy/make/etc.
