How do I lower ph

I tested my aquariums water today and the ph is a bit high. How do I lower the ph, I went online and I only found two methods which were using real driftwood and Indian almond leaves but those turn the water brown and I personally am not a fan of the look of brown water so I was wondering if there are other ways I can lower my aquariums ph also I wonder what is the reason the ph is high, I tested my tap water and the ph is low so it’s not my tap water, what else could it be?

A stable ph is better than a ph that fluctuates up and down. What is the ph in the tank, and what fish do you keep?

Most community fish can adapt to a wide range of ph and if they are in the water now, odds are that they are fine in there as it is without it being adjusted.

What exactly is your pH, what do you want to lower it to and why?

How long has the tank been set up and what substrate and rocks (if any) do you have? Do you know the dKH?
Also, try leaving a cup of even better, a bucket of tap water sit out 24 hours to see if the ph naturally increases as the water is exposed to oxygen.

I have neon tetras and the ph is around 7.8, also the ammonia comes up at 0.50 ppm but this aquarium is at least 6 months old

It is at 7.8 and I want to lower it because neon tetras like a lower ph, also the ammonia reads at 0.50 ppm but the aquarium is at least 6 months old

7.8 is good for most fish. I would just leave it alone. Messing with it will just lead to problems. The pH levels stated online are their native habitat water parameters. The fish we get in stores are generally from fish farms and the pH most times is really different.
