When I do water changes, I usually just use conditioned water that has been sitting for a few days. How can I cycle the water when imdon’t have an extra filter or anything? I’m confused.

Cycle the water? I just condition it and add it right to the aquarium.

Oh, people keep telling me that I need to cycle the water before I can put it in the tank.

No, just make sure it is dechlorinated and the same temperature and ph as the tank water.

I'm not real clear on why you're asking, I don't know what "cycled" water is. Your filter is what is cycled - meaning it has a mature colony of BB. Water is water, it just needs to be conditioned to remove the chlorine/chloramine/heavy metals before putting it into the tank - i.e., "conditioned". Hope that helps and apologize if it didn't.

When a tank is cycled, that means that the filter on that tank is full of beneficial bacteria that eats the ammonia and nitrites produced by your fish. The water itself is not cycled.
