Get some cobra guppies from a pet store and breed them lol. What do you not know about breeding guppies? They will breed themselves. You don't need to do much, but make sure your tank is cycled.

I've never tried to breed anything, but having more females than males is mainly so the same female is not always being pestered to death by males in the tank. I think you'll be able to fill that tank (and then some) in no time. Just be aware that sometimes female guppies in a pet store have already been "pre-hit" so the babies you end up with may not necessarily have come from your cobra guppy male.

So I should just have 1 of each?

I suggest having 1 male and two female. I'd also suggest putting three dividers in, one for the male, one for the females, and one for fry. Although if you do divide it one male and one female could work since they'll barely ever be together.

Could I do it without dividers? I can move the adults out after fry are born

That should be fine.

Well 1 male for 3 females is better the only 2 females. If you want to make it simply just put them together and they will do the rest. Now if you want to pick a certain male and female for breeding you need to put them together(by themselves, so they only mate).

It would all depend on how serious you are about that particular strain. If it really matters to you than find a breeder online that sells virgin females and males of the cobra strain and then put them in the same tank. I would also do one male to 2 females , or 2 males to 4 or 5 females . then you would have to separate out males and females to prevent unwanted breeding while you raise them up to decide who to breed with whom to keep the line strong. It is a lot of work but fun if you really get into it. Plus you need lots of tanks. Alison
