How Do I Become A "well Known Member"?

I want to move through the ranks of this forum so I can get more than one or two responses on my threads. Any suggestions on how to climb through the ranks? I started a few days ago. Thanks!

Answer questions you know the answers to, the post count will come with time.

As a fellow forum newbie, sometimes one member nails a response so no one else feels like they need to respond to a thread already with a good reply. To get better known on the forum, I have been reading lots of threads that interest me and responding to threads that I feel I can add to. I also have been branching out of a few select sub forums and look at the unread threads when on the app. It's hard being new to a forum and the format, but it gets easier the more you use it.

Changing your forum rank won't affect the amount of responses you get, this I promise you! We sit here at our desks or on our phones looking for questions we can actually answer, not names we know and just feel like responding to!

Your "ranking" has nothing to do with responses to your threads - if someone knows something about your issue, they'll chime in, fear not. A "well known" member is someone who has posted a certain number of posts (100? 150? I don't know, but it's something like that)... nothing to do with status or anything...

Edit: I just looked at your posts, and I can at least tell you why I didn't comment on any of them - I'm not an endler or guppy person (heck, I don't even know what an endler is) - I try not to post unless I know something about what I'm saying (good way to avoid foot in mouth disease!). You ask about stocking issues, too, which a subject I just plain avoid - there are people who know a lot more about that than me, and I don't think throwing in random pennies of "wisdom" will help in such discussions! I suspect that people who know about the subject at hand will give you plenty of information.

Also, I just thought of something - if you just joined in the last week or so, things have been wicked slow around here. The forum was just upgraded, and in the process a lot of members were lost in the internet for a while. People are beginning to figure out how to get back on, so you should start seeing how busy this place can get soon.

Relax and have fun!

I don't care about the "well known" thing! I want my "likes". I have only two....Where are my "likes"?

Mine all seem to have taken off with the update, as well! I'd love to find all those buggers again!

Mine got wiped out with the update as well - it looks we all have to start from scratch again, but we Fishlore folks are such a likeable bunch, that shouldn't be a problem! We'll get our "Likes" back in no time!

When I finally figured out how to get back on, I got three "promotions" due to my old post numbers in about a second, so at least that information got retained. It was kind of funny when the message next to the rank "promotion" said something like, "I hope you didn't make all those posts in one day!"

Thank you for your "likes" guys, but I had dozens of "likes" and I work hard for them, three more likes don't do justice....I want my "likes" back!

Here's another for you... Mike is the dude in charge, but I don't know if there's anything that can be done about it - we're all in the same boat, though, so I wouldn't get too freaked out about the like thing... Your three (now four) likes will add up quickly enough.

Read through posts about your topic and see who the experts seem to be. You can tag them in your post by placing an @ in front of their avatar name. In time, you will learn who the folks are that are good with stocking, fish disease, cycling, guppies, etc. so you can call on them specifically with questions.

I have been impatient and bumped up my own threads before too, lol. When a post is made, it goes to the top of the list of unread posts so people are more likely to see it.

Also, if someone has posted to your thread, they are notified whenever a new post is made to it.

Unlike this post, lol, try to keep it short and simple and in paragraphs so it's not one long chunk of information.
Hang in there. People that have knowledge about the question will respond. And keep in mind that a lot of us work and can only devote so much time causing a delay in responding.

Short and simple? What's that?

Short and simple? What's that?

IKR! I am not the person to give that advice or should be taking it as well, lol

So I just looked up and found that I have lost all my likes too. . We are all in the same boat on that one, lol

Yea it's Christmas holiday as well. Trust me this is the busiest forum out there with the least amount of anecdotal info and the most genuine people! Great moderators too!

I won't lie, I have had time sensitive issues that have gotten zero replies (I still have 2 unanswered threads from months ago) and have gotten my feelers hurt, but you can see how many people have looked at it- and I ask super in depth overly inclusive questions with as much back info as possible. Some questions no one has an answer for. But 99% of the time it's just a matter of time!
