How Critical Is Drop Size?

The instructions that came with my API kit say to ensure the bottles are vertical to ensure uniform drops (makes sense). However, I noticed this morning that my Ammonia #2 bottle produces larger drops than the Ammonia #1 bottle. I compared 8 drops of the #1 bottle with 8 drops of the #2 bottle and it is off by about a drop. To balance things, I first tried 9 drops of #1 and the specified 8 drops of #2 and the ammonia reading didn't change much (still about 0.5ppm). But then I did 8 drops of #1 and 7 drops of #2 and the ammonia reading increased to about 1ppm. I have no clue what the actual ammonia level is at this point. It appears that the #2 bottle is producing the correct amount when compared to the nitrite bottle, so I can only assume that the #1 bottle isn't producing a large enough drop. Does API sell just the Ammonia #1 bottle, or do I need to contact them to get a replacement? I think I'm going to bring all of my bottles in to work and measures each drop of produced by each based on weight using a digital scale and adjust the amount of drops per bottle accordingly. Anyone else have this issues?

Here's a picture of 8 drops of #1 bottle on the left and 8 drops of #2 bottle on the right (yes, both tubes were dry prior to the test).

Mine does the same thing, I still only use 8 & 8 per directions. I just figured it’s a different consistency in the liquid that’s supposed to be that way.

I don't think it's correct. Another reason why is because when I simply tilt the #2 bottle, the drops start coming out, whereas with the #1 bottle, I have to squeeze pretty firmly.

Actually, she's got a point there, that is correct.
For example, the #1 ammonia bottle has a thicker solution, while the #2 ammonia bottle has a thinner and more waterlike liquid.
So, in short, you just confirmed the exact same answer that WTFish? had originally stated.

Okay. I believe you. I went ahead and sent API an email just to confirm.
