How can I make my filter quieter?

My filter makes too much noise and I can't fill up my tank anymore in fear of fish jumping, is there any other way? Maybe I could obstruct the filter, but how? here are some pics, I hope they help

yes, do you have any filter floss? You can slow the flow some, however, you do need to realize it will not flow as much, but I use canisters, thank god I do not have to deal with that anymore, lol...

oh I don't but I could go and buy some and its fine if it doesn;t flow as much I just have a betta and amano shrimp that would benifit more from not having a strong current from pushing them from one side of the tank. where would I place it?

Is covering the tank out of the question? I cover mine so I can fill the tank all the way up to the outflow and my filters don't make a peep.

prior to the cartridge, or if that will not stay there, inside it. use any pillow fill, that has no dyes, detergents, scents or flame retardant. But I would buy it at petsmart/petco/amazon so you are sure you don't kill them. It won't slow it right away, but it will after a couple of days and it gets dirty. Once it gets very dirty- just replace it (eg.weeks/months or so).

I can't fill my tank anymore because my betta is a jumper

I just had a genius idea: can I use a popsicle stick? like where the water comes out or will something in the stick kill the fish?

That's why I suggest to cover the tank.
Bringing the water up to the outflow level will also slow the current in produces which would probably make your betta happy.

The filterfloss will keep the water clearer too. I'm not sure. Can you get a canister. Lol. Or cover it

Or get clear plastic and cover the tank. I have a piece of square glass from one of those tv cabinets covering half of my 20 gallon high. All the methods to slow the flow of the water won't work since the height of the output and the water level is still high and you will hear the trickle. I suggest ust filling it up. Many people don't have a problem with the betta jumping out. Usually people have a problem when they put the betta in a small container such as a 2 or smaller container.
