How big can rosy barbs get in a 10 gallon tank?

How big can rosy barbs get in a 10 gallon tank if I have two of them, two tiger barbs and two cherry barbs? I have researched and some websites said 2.5 inches but others said 6 inches. Plz help??????????????

 

I am checking my freshwater encyclopedia as I write.

OK, the encyclopedia says that rosy barbs are shoaling species that grow to about 6 inches (15 centimeters), but usually much smaller in aquaria.

Tiger barbs are shoaling fish that grow up to 2.5 inches (7 centimeters) and also usually smaller in aquaria. The book says that tiger barbs will indeed nip fins of other fish if kept singly or in pairs.

And cherry barbs grow up to 2 inches (5 centimeters) and, as always, smaller in aquaria - which I suspect is about 1.5 inches. Cherry barbs should be kept in groups but will be OK in pairs.

I wouldn't keep less than 6 of any kind of barb, as they are shoalers and will be unhappy and possibly aggressive in small groups. Cherries are great barbs, peaceful and hardy from what I know. Even keeping Tiger Barbs in shoals may not prevent them from fin-nipping, so tank mates must be chosen carefully. Rosy Barbs are way too big for a 10 gallon.
