How Big Can A Blood Red Parrot Cichlid Open It's Mouth?

I jus recently purchased a Blood Red Parrot Cichlid and a tiger Oscar due due to the fact the the aquarium shop had them together and loved the look of the tank. My Parrot cichlid is maybe 4 inches in body and the tiger Oscar was about 2 to 3 in in length. I turned the lights off in the aquarium to reduce stress as I normally do when putting fish in an aquarium. But, when I went and checked on them maybe 6 hours later, I can't seem to find my tiger Oscar. Is it even possible that the parrot cichlid ate him, or is he just a good hider?

Not that big. I don’t think a BP is able to swallow a fish alive. It might be hiding if you have some caves. Lift them up and look for them. Could it have jump out?

Also, heads up...Both of them grow fairly big. The BP 8-9 inches and the tiger oscar up to 14 inches both aggressive fish.
