How bad is temperature variation in my tank?

Hi Guys,

I have a 15g (54l) with Molly, Platy and Neon tetra.

I keep them at steady 77f (25c). However, the temperature are increasing because of the summer and today it has reached 82.4f (28c) during the day. My heater is giving the same reading as my traditional water thermostat.

Do I need to worry about it?

Can my fish deal with change of temperature once it is on they range of comfort?

Thank you!!!

Does your heater run all the time or does it turn off once it reaches a certain temperature?

Yes, it’s on but it turns off itself when reach the temperature set.

Is the tank next to a window, in a confined space, or next to an air vent. All of these can make your tank heat up.

Unfortunately, it’s one meter away from a window. However, It’s the only spot I do not have risk of someone hitting my tank.

Plus, as in live in Dublin, the apartment has great retention of temperature to make energy efficient during the winter. So, I don’t think I will be able to work on this issue of room temperature. The plus side is I don’t think it will reach above this temperature. Unless, there is a heat wave in Dublin (almost never lol).

So, my question is. Considering I can’t work on the room temperature. Should I be worried with the temperature oscillating. Night on my set temp and day a couple of degrees above it?

As long as the temp change is gradual I think they will be ok.
If anything turn the heater down to 74°~75° that way resting temp is lower and as it increases it will settle at around 80° not 82°.
You can also float a bag of ice in the tank, put a fan in front of the tank and if you have a lid take it off...unless you have jumpers...which in that case I use nerf darts in the corners of my lids as my bala shark will tend to zoom around and try and rocket out of the tank.
