House Fire - Friend Lost Most Of His Tanks

A buddy of mine just lost a lot of his tanks in a fire.. 11/15 of his tanks burnt up or crashed too the floor and shattered, he's devastated as his aquariums were not covered under his tenets insurance.. luckily everything else was, he's got a new house now and me and a few friends plan on getting him a few tanks and aquascaping it for him, the way he used to have, but my question to you guys is this, where is the best/cheapest place to get hardscape? Mostly driftwood, I have a lot of lava rock and seryiu stone I'm donating at least 100 pounds of my own rock to this cause

Hmm... manzanita driftwood is where I get all my wood I feel like they have fair prices. They also sometimes do a buy2 get 1 free. I believe Lchi87 has a place where she gets some wood for cheap.

I’m really sorry that happened to your friend, that would just be devastating. I bet he’s glad to have friends like you who’ll something like this for him though.

Yeah, he's got no idea were doing this, his birthday is the 18th of September, his wife is taking him somewhere for the day and me and 3 other guys want to knock out 4-5 tanks with plants and decor maybe even fish.

I’ve heard good reviews from bloomsandbranches. com. Make sure to tell them it’s for an aquarium. Other than that, they have pretty good prices.

That’s a really cool thing you guys are doing for him btw.

That’s awesome. He’ll be so surprised when he gets back!

Also, for hardscape I’d check out some aquarium forum members(here and other places). There’s some who have quite a lot of rock and if you tell them how much you need and what it’s for they may be able to give you some discounts since you’ll be buying so much.

bryangar beat me to the punch. Bloomsand branches.com have great pieces and prices, you just need to make sure you get ones that are aquarium safe, as they offer glazed, painted and treated wood too. I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. I just insured my tanks this year in case catastrophe strikes and think everyone should if they’re able to so the rebuild isn’t quite as painful financially. Best of luck to him and let him know that we’re pulling for him over here on Fishlore.

Thank you everyone, we have gathered up most of the supplies. Now we are all pooling together to buy the filters and co2 diffusers. Hopefully will be good to go by the 18th. I appreciate all of your guys and girls help.
