Do you see the degraded foam on the edge in the picture? That IS waterfall foam. It started to degrade in less then 3 months.

Strange, I've used it in my pond up here in the north and the pond is 3 years old and no issue with it at all. Even one of my waterfalls uses 20% of this in various areas. So maybe it's the mark your using.

Do you remember what brand you used? I'm going to have to reseal a number of spots this year.

I use two products that I've used for years building ponds.

2 marks I've used are Aquascape and Touch 'n' Foam Professional for waterfall foams. I also use Liquid Rubber which is very good for spray form installations or making a pond out of anything that can hold water.

Back east I made a freeform artsy waterfall using these foams, an old tire, some dirt and it was 3 feet high. For extra waterproofing I use the LR product. The LR once cured is as tough as any liner or even better. Concrete ponds, wood, screen mesh this works very good.

Sorry for your losses! I hope your other goldfish and future goldfish live a lot longer! They may have been a little small to over winter in a pond or something else could of done it.

You may need to buy a different brand of waterfall foam, a more heavy duty foam that will last longer. Good luck with your pond and fish!
