Horned Nerite Snails and Escaping?

Long story short, I bought some gorgeous yellow fire dwarf shrimp today from a fish shop that’s a bit away from me. I love them, they’re gorgeous and so fun to watch but unfortunately theyre housed with a betta in a 7 gallon tank. He’s always hunting them and has already eaten one, so I’m looking to see if I can save these shrimp but if I can’t I’m considering Horned Nerite Snails! I’ve heard the praise for nerite snails in general but unfortunately the lid I have has some openings and I don’t want to risk one of my cats getting ahold of a snail! Ive heard some say that horned nerite snails (or bumblebee nerites?) don’t try to escape and I’m wondering if anybody knows if that’s true? Or if there are recommendations for other snails for clean up crew but won’t overpopulate/escape? Thank you!

I would try covering up what you can. Ziploc bags or aluminum foil can be handy for such things.

Ok so maybe unpopular opinion and do at your own risk but only one tank out of my 8 has a lid. I have mystery snails, rabbit snails, nerites, spike snails, ramshorn snails and I have never had a snail (or fish) jump or escape. But I have seen it happen in tanks at my LFS

Just cursed yourself. Once found a nerite across the house from it's tank...it went on an adventure to the kitchen!

I honestly even at fish stores have never seen the nerites above the waterline, and wouldn’t mind taking that chance if not for my cats (that would definitely play with the snail if found.) I may end up covering the openings with Saran Wrap and pray they don’t get out!

My exact fear!
