Hoplo Catfish Getting Beat Up?? Please Help:(

HI everyone,
I was just feeding my large fish tank and noticed 2 of my hoplo catfish look like their fins have been nipped by another fish and most alarming is on one of the hoplos it looks like his dorsal fin right by his body has been ripped a little or there are scales missing, in turn a white spot. Not ich for sure because the spots are much bigger than ich spots. The other hoplo has a white spot on the side of his body. These things were not there yesterday. Could they be getting beat up? They are acting normal and eating well.

Nothing is fuzzy, protruding, red and they are not flashing.

Tank 210 gallon
Ammonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate around 60 tomorrow is water change day.
tank temp is 79 degrees
40 gallon wet/dry sump
FX6 canister filter
UV sterilizer

Housed with:
Severum
Several severum fry 1-3”
4 hoplos catfish
2 Raphael catfish
1 Geophagus pelligrinI about 4”
4 blood parrots
1 spiney eel

The white coating stuff on the catfish is the terrible white sand that is like powder sugar it isn’t ich.

Thank all for any help you can give me, I am a nervous wreck

YEah they’re definitely getting beat up. How big are the blood parrots? The bigger the grow the more aggressive they become. As for the white fuzz I would do daily water changes and keep the tnak clean it looks like a fungus may have taken root in the wound. Also are they all males? They can be territorial once they hit maturity towards other males if a female is present.

One is a couple years old and the others are probably older, they are about 6 or 7”. Their mouths don’t close so I have never seen them cause any damage.

I thought the hoplos might get beat up because they swim anywhere they want and they don’t really care about other fish. They have been in the take for about a year and a half.

It could be a scrap on an overhead rock but with bottom feeders if they are getting attack by a few swimmer you typically see the dorsal fin attacked. I would watch the infractions and see if you can see anything. If you see no sign of aggression then they most likely scraped themselves on an overhanging decoration. I wouldn’t think the severum, or geophagus would bother attacking the catfish, they are pretty docile for cichlids except when breeding.

Well with the small Severums the mother is still a bit aggressive and I have seen her go after them but their armor has always seemed to protect them. My poor hoplos
