After a thread last week where I was yet again lusting after another poster’s dwarf water lettuce, I finally broke down & ordered some from eBay. It came, I salt dipped it (rinsed) & put it in my tank. It looks great! I have so missed having a floating plant & I have SO wanted dwarf water lettuce. So excited- just wanted to share!

i wish i knew you wanted dwarf water lettuce... i have an over flow!! lol to the point that i had to just take some out and throw it away!! (which i hated doing but i had no choice).
Ah well. Next time post it in the Buy/Sell/Trade... I looked there first, but didn’t see any listed. It was sent in a ziplock with a damp paper towel in a priority shipping small box. It they arrived in great shape.

Yay!!! I know how you feel lol. I recently went to my LFS and noticed they had some floating in a new tank they set up to start selling plants. I jumped on it immediately but the guy said he wasn't selling it yet *cue internal scream* But after pressing a bit he ended up giving me a little bit for FREE! SOOOOO HAPPY!!! Can't wait until these babies propagate and take over >

Not to hijack your thread but I have been looking for dwarf water lettuce everywhere in Canada.

Every time I look, they say it is called pistia stratiotes - whether it's sold as "dwarf water lettuce" for an aquarium, or at pond supply places where it is sold as just "water lettuce".

Can someone clarify if it is just dwarfed because it's being grown in an aquarium (as opposed to an outdoor pond with full sun) or if there is truly a dwarf variety with a scientific name?

@BobNJerry - I need more! Please message me if you decide to post on Buy/Sell/Trade. For some reason it won’t let me PM you.
