Holy Rainbow Shark!

I wasn't planning on adding anymore fish for a while since I just added some not too long ago but I was at work today and noticed a GIANT rainbow shark. He was on hold until close for a customer but he never came so....I BOUGHT HIM. After I caught him and had him in the cup I measured him, he is every bit of 7" if not a little more!

I have him floating now I am so excited! I will post photos later. I have to finish cleaning before bed.

When I bought my newer 125, I got it used and it came with the fish. It had 3 Albino rainbow sharks in it that were I kid you not 6" maybe even 7". I was very impressed at how large they were since they are albino.

Very nice! She looks great. I had several Rainbow Sharks that got to that size and bigger when I had a fishroom. They're lots of fun .

He is so cool, definitely a little nippy with my BPs but that's probably because he's trying to find his territory. Outside that he's super cool. I couldn't get him to eat last night so hopefully I can bribe him with some frozen food today.

Oh I already am, I usually hate most rainbow sharks and rts. I really like him I think because he just so huge you can't not like him. He's currently the biggest fish in my tank. Totally awesome!

Its a 125 gallon. I plan to eventually upgrade to a 285g or a custom wall tank is my dream but for now they are living in a 125.

I will keep an eye on it. He hasn't done it today from what I've noticed (I've been thawing food so just passing by) so I think he's done but I will keep an eye on it. I have TONS of driftwood and terra cotta pots and such for them to hide in so hopefully he'll chill out. If worst comes to worst I can give him to a friend with a 75 gallon.

 

Oh, I think you'll be fine in that size tank. It probably is just "new kid on the block" aggression.

Haha good to know its a she I had no idea I've just been calling her monster fish. I have been watching today and haven't seen any more aggression I think all is well in the tank now She found her new "spot" She really likes this area under a piece of drift wood that I have near my air pump.

 

If I hadn't fallen madly in love with Apache, my featherfin catfish, I could've gotten another rainbow when I set up my 75 gallon. But it was love at first sight for me and my whiskered boyfriend and that's just how it goes.

Her name was Dil. I named her before I knew it was a her and after the rugrats cartoon!

Unfortunatly I woke up this morning and she had passed away. I was super bummed I have been trying to get her to eat. I don't think she ate at all. She acted interested the other day but never officially ate. I also had 5 other deaths in the tank all over the past couple days. Tested the water and my tank is in another minI cycle. I am completely kicking myself for adding so many fish at once.
