Hi guys, I bought an Angelfish yesterday and when I got him home I noticed an almost perfectly circular hole in his/her fin. Any ideas what this could be? And what I can do about it? Thanks

There are a number of things this could be. Can you get a picture of the hole ? It would be extremely helpful

I will do my best! The lights haven't come on in the tank yet, when they do I'll try and get a snap

OK! No problem at all. Then we can see if we can get a diagnosis and remedy identified for you

You can see it quite clearly in this pic as he/she is conveniently in front of a bright plant!

My apologies! Mustv'e missed your notification.
Are the edges on the opening discoloured in any way? As in darker or lighter than they should be or is there any other raggedy edges on the edges of the other fins?
If not, and the opening is isolated to that area. I'd point towards it being an injury of some sort, as its an unusual place for fin rot

That's OK, thanks for taking the time to reply. No that hole isn't inflamed or anything it's just there. I have noticed however that he's also missing a trailing bit from his bottom fin that the other angel has, thatlooks like it has a bit of white on the end. He ate some frozen brine shrimp yesterday so that's a positive, think it's the first time they've eaten since I got them.
