HOB or sponge filter for future breeding tank?

Hello everyone. I have a 20g long that currently just houses 6 guppies that will be moving to my 75 gallon once I'm done with it. After the move I would like to try my first set of breeding projects. Either pygmy cories, kuhli loaches, honey gouramis or even neon blue eyed rainbowfish. I wanted to know if a sponge filter or hob is better for breeding projects like this. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

I prefer sponge filters for this myself. Don't have to worry about a sponge sliding off an intake cover and lower flow for the fry as well.

That could happen? I’m guessing with the right size intake sponge, that can be avoided. But I do see how the lower flow is a pro.

Granted, i am biased, as all i use in all my tanks is sponge filters.
