High Ph And Soft Water

I currently have a 29gal rectangular tank that has been set up for about 2 months now. The tank has cycled and I have a 3 month old angel, two paradise gourami, halfmoon betta, 2 platys, 2 fancy tail guppies and a pecostomus.

My tap runs ph of about 7.5 and I have a water softener that hooks direct to the city water line. Our city water is terrible. I have some experience with freshwater when I was a kid and I enjoyed getting a tank going and never had a problem. I can't seem to get much right on this go round as an adult.

The angel has been in for about a month as well as the gouramis and they couldn't look healthier. Platys were added soon after as I originally had one male and 2 females. Guppies came next and I originally had 2 females and a male as well. Female died a few days after to unknown causes. I purchased some tetras (5) last week and put them in the tank. I put bag in tank for 20mins then I slowly introduce my water to the bag for the next 10-15mins before netting the fish and putting them in my tank. When I add fish, I also add stability Chem to the tank and keep it he lights off. The next morning I noticed one of them was missing and eventually found it dead and missing its eyes. Later that day another with the same look. Half its face was gone. The next day another. A week later I have one left and he looks happier than a pig in ****. All my platys looked great too. Fins up and no problems. Come home from work today and my blue platy is vertical on one of my plants. Dead. Pecostomus cleaning the plant around it. Check all my levels and ph is 7.2, no ammonia, 0 nitrate and nitrite. I use apI master kit.

I am at a loss here. I don't know why these fish keep turning up dead. I would like some middle tank fish which is why I got the tetras but only one survived. Now I have a dead platy today and the other two still look healthy as ever. I just don't know.

Regardless of your water perameters, how often do you do partial water changes and how much. Also do you always vacuum the bottom for water changes.

Yes. Every Sunday I do about a 25-33 percent water change cleaning the bottom.

That sounds fine. I was just wondering if untestable toxic may be building up like flouride, or pheromones thom the angels.
