Hiding Instead of Eating and secondly, Aggression?

Today when I fed my African Cichlid tank instead of immediately charging out to feast (which is there normal custom) the Cichlids all stayed in their caves. I am also noticing a lot of aggression between three red zebras. The zebras appear the dominant fish in this tank and have claimed territories but fight amongst the three.
I am wondering if I need to rearrange the tank or if there is something that I can do to decrease the aggression and to restore the activity of the others. Any help is appreciated as this is my first time to have African Cichlids.
The tank has been set up just a few months and the fish were purchased at the same time and added as juveniles.
There are multiple types in the tank from mbuna.

Sounds like a plan but sometimes redecorating doesn't stop the aggression. For me it gave me a few days before it restarted. Might have to locate the alpha and return/exchange him for another.

Maybe others can chime in with their experience

Thanks Domingo, if it is just a short reprieve then I think I will try and catch one. I have a 55 gallon set up for problem children, it has tiger barbs and a group of the African cichlids that arrived later and were much smaller. I will not be adding those but there is room in the tank for at least 6-10 fish as there are 5 tigers and 5 Africans (the tigers can go in a different tank if I start to add other Africans).
Do you think they would do okay in a move like that?

HI Claireputput, sorry you are having issues. have you checked your Parameters, in particular "Nitrates" since you have had this up for a couple months there may be an issue with higher Nitrates. which will slow Africans down and eventually do fatal harm to them. Nitrates is probably the biggest problem in Mbuna tanks. if you notice anything above 15-20 I would do a 75% WC, for about 3 days in a row to get it in line.

Thanks, I will check them now!
Holy Cow! Disc61, this was the case-they were up to 160+ and that was after a 20% water change that I had done this morning. I had been checking and it was staying around 20+ and so I had slacked off on the testing and possibly missed a few water changes but that won't happen again! I realize I haven't been accounting for their recent growth spurts!
Thank you so much!
