Hello all! I am Alison from San Diego, CA, in the USA. I am getting back into keeping fish as I took a couple years off because of military moves (I'm a MW, military wife). Now that I am back in the game I wanted to get up to date information. The forum I used to belong to was wonderful, but unfortunatly in the last couple years since I have been gone, it has few members left.

As I google everything I need, this site keeps popping up. Seriously the last 10 things I have googled about fish brought me to fishlore!! So, I hope this is an active site (as it seems to be) and that I can become part of the community!

I currently have a 2.5 gal (hospital) tank with my male betta, Dog. And I have a 10 gallon divided tank that is currently housing 6 minnows of unknown species (I'm sure if I looked it up I could find out). They were going to be turtle food for a friend, but his turtle died, so he was going to flush them. They are the best 13cent pets I have ever owned The 10 gal is supposed to be for bettas, but the minnows needed saving IMO so they get the space first. Dog, the betta, will join the minnows (in a divided section) in a couple weeks after quarenteen.

So, if you made it through that novel I just wrote, I'm happy to be here!

Welcome to fishlore

Definitely a very active forum, and as stated, there's always someone here 24hrs a day. The community is very wide, with passionate/dedicated members all over the world.

Rarely does a post go un-answered and normally within minutes of being posted

I'm new here, too. Signed up after researching Otocinclus, & FishLore very evident. I have a happy & balanced 14 gal tank (will list denizens for anyone interested), & set up a 5 gal plexigas recently. It became an Algae Factory, so moved it's critters to the 14 (where they are much happier), & cleaned the tank, did new water. After a good water test @ trusted family-owned store, today got a male Betta & 2 Otos..then Googled the Otos. A bit scary. Realize I need a live plant to help them out, plunked in an algae wafer. Right now, of course, all 3 are abit stressed, so turned out the light to let them rest.
Glad to be here, looks like a good forum. I can't be on that much, but will check in, & investigate different things that are appicable. Any advice on a live plant for the Otos would be helpful; am thinking of one of the floating variety.
