hI all I bought 6 Amazon Swords the other day there in the black pots iv tuck one out the pot and put a little weight on it and put it into the sand to see witch one grows better out the ones in the pot or the weighed one anyways iv just read up on here that you should give them root tablets :/ iv just bought some tetra plant plantamin and I'm wondering if its just as good to the plants as the root tablets? it says.......

promotes lush,healthy plant growth

acts fast, absorbed quickly through leaves and roots

provides iron and other essential trace elements for strong healthy leaf growth

does not promote algae growth

fertiliser for all freshwater aquaria

Howdy

If I am thinking correctly that Tetra product is a liquid fert, and won't be as good for swords as a solid tab would be. For plants that get most of their nutrients out of the water the liquid ferts are fine. For a heavy root feeding plant you want the tabs to sit where the roots can get to them.

Flourish tabs by seachem have always done the job for me.

I've only been using the tabs for a short time, but I bought the Seachem Flourish tabs because of the high praise they seem to get.

I try to evenly space my tabs throughout the substrate initially. Then when it's time to place new ones just stick em in where they are most needed (ie around individual plants or clusters of plants). Of course this is a bit dependent on your aquascaping preferences. If you're growing a carpet of grass they should be spaced everywhere, if its just clusters of plants then its fine to just focus on fertilizing the specific plants. One per plant though would be far more than what you need though.

well at the min I have 6 in one end of the tank and goin to get 6 more for the other end of the tank I'm just a bit confused with if I should be giving them a tablet each or one for all of them as there all individual like I say I have 6 in one end of the tank and getting 6 for the other end and I thought if I put one tablet under the sand ner the plant root then will the other sowed roots go to that tablet ner the plant or won't thay as like I say there 6 individual there not all from one root sorry if I'm making things complicated lol

The issue is more of spacing that of individual plants. For example (I know you are using a different brand but this should also apply) my flourish tabs say they will feed a 4"-6" radius. Going by that if I stick a tab in the substrate and any plant within 5 inches or so can all use it.

Bigger picture if each plant is far apart they need separate tabs but if they are close together they can share. That's why if I'm setting up a new tank I put them everywhere but when it's time for new ones I focus on putting them near existing plant groups.

Ohhhhh thanks for that Eric well I haven't got the tablets yet I'm waiting for th to be arrive as I got them of eBay lol but I will read the back ad yah there roughly no more than 5inchs from eatch other so one will be just fine I'm guessing gem what you say maybe ill put two in just to have peace of mind lol!

Haha go for it. The tabs are generally better about not releasing fertilizer into the water column so an extra tab or two shouldn't have any sort of negative effect on your tank.

You need to remove the plants from the pots and plant them so their crown is just above the
substrate.

Amazons get fairly large over time and have big root systems. Don't plant them too close together.

Since I bought Seachem Flourisg Tabs, my Amazon Sword has exploded in size...it just looks so lush and green now with huge long leaves that my Twig Catfish love sitting on

I alos add Seachem aquavitro envy as a general water column fertilizer 3 times per week, and my planst are definitely doing better

It takes time for the tabs to work
My Amazon had leaves like that also, but with time, the old brown ones would die out, and I would prune them out, and new ones would always be growing, and much greener and healthier
Remember also that all leaves do not live forever...they die out being replaced by new younger and healthier ones

Give it some time to work..

You still have them planted too deeply in the substrate.

It doesn't look like they're planted too deeply to me, look fine as is.
