    They have a few that are not calcium carbonate based. I believe the standard black, tan, and white are intended for aquarium use. The others are more geared towards reptiles.

    I have pool filter sand in all my tanks and the corydoras seem to love it.
    i haven't had a problem with pfs and on top is cheap and easy to clean.

    Thank you everyone. Been a very full week (the usual 12-14 hr days) and had to catch up on a lot of yard work. I did not have the time to answer each of your posts. But I really appreciate all of you helping me out in this.

    I decided to go with the med-heavy grit black diamond blast medium. At $8.00 each US I got two 50 lbs bags for the 44. I do not have time left in the weekend to start the build (have to get up at 2 am) so it will have to wait till next weekend. Maybe by then the Madagascar lace plant bulbs I got will have begun to send out leaves.
