I know this title sounds a bit weird but I'm curios, what does everyone think about a hermit crab and betta tank now i'm still working out the specs but I thought this would be cool 'cause recently one of my lfs had a deal where if I bought a certain small filter I get a FREE 10 gallon tank (I know sweet isn't it?!?!) so I have an empty 10 gallon tank right now and I think hermits are the coolest things in the world and I thought I saw someone say that they had a hermit and a betta in a tank (or maybe it was just wishful thinking lol) so I was wondering if it would be possible it do, I know the set up will be a total pain in the rear but if it is possible i'd figure out a way to set it up....thanx all

I don't think you should put hermit crabs with other living organisms. Hermit crabs should only be kept with other hermit crabs (thus being named "hermit" crab. Adult hermit crabs have powerful claws that can snap a pencil into 2. It could also cut your betta into 2.

Well you could but you might want to put a wall dividing the tank in half so one side can be water for betta and other land for crab and so betta can't jump onto land(that would be bad) and crab can't attack betta(stradius could be right)

I thought that hermit crabs live in land and better live in water, how are you gonna kept the two together, just wondering

I have seen hermit crabs in half the tank being land and half being water. I think they need it to be that way or their shells get to soft just like turtles.

Hermies tend to like salt water I would never for nutrients as well as for breeding purposes. So I really doubt that Hermits and Bettas could even be considered for the same tank. I would like to do a divided tank for my Hermits someday...but if you are looking for that thread just look for it under my name.
