So I am still struggling with my guy Henry the betta. He is my only fish with live plants. I have 5 tanks with 5 bettas. He is my little sickly I guess. All my other bettas have silk plants. I bought the live hoping it would help him heal. When I first started treating his rot fin I started out with doing every day half water changes to his heated 5.5 gal tank. When that didnt help any I started to use betta fix. Then bought almond leaves. Then bought aquarium salt and started giving him salt baths every day. When that didnt help just stressed him I came to fishlore for advice. I purchased furan 2 for rot fin it didnt help I removed filter and everything just as directed. It turnt my water green which was removed wen I turnt my filter on after the treatment failed. I then started to give up then I bought fungal powder for fish didnt help either just discolored the water. And lastly here I am still struggling with poor Henry months later. I just got some new medicine I found online for marine and fresh called kanaplex. Just started that treatment today fingers crossed it works. Any advice on any thing else I can purchased that helped someone with persistent rot fin? Is there a method I can use to make the kanaplex work full ability. Is there a reason I can't get rid of rot fin after all those medicines for the fish? I know rot dum can cause damage to the fins forever but I can see his fins have black tips and the disease is still eating his fin away no matter what I do. How long should I use kanaplex it says remove filter and dose every 2 days doesn't say when to stop dosing? I'm sure if every two days u put the kanaplex in without water changes or filter itll over dose the fish right? So should kanaplex only be used every 2 days for one week then u should make a water change n continue if no improvement has been seen? Should I be using salt baths with the kanaplex since this rot fin is hard to get rid of?

Is your betta a crown tail? Do you have more pictures? To be honest with you this betta doesn't look like it has fin rot. Is he showing signs of sickness? Lethargic, loss of appetite, staying at the bottom of the tank?

If it is fin rot it's at least not that severe and if it isn't fin rot then giving him different medications will not help him.

Just got back on fish lore still dealing with this issues with him he is a halfmoon betta. this was the first day I got him. He has never acted strangely eats and flares. In fact my most active aggressive betta so maybe he is just a torn up guy. I have still been adding salt to his aquarium and using kanaplex weekly after water change. I even redid his hole tank decor with live plants and new gravel a month ago. And he is still active eating and swimming like crazy. Maybe I should stop the extra medication and except he is just torn up now. Funny how he does look like a crown tail now that he is shredded...

Sorry I haven't replied since your pst, but if the problem is still apparent it looks to be fin biting. There are crescent shapes in the tail from the fish biting itself, most people never see them do this. I have a betta fish who is extremely sensitive and will just shred his entire caudal fin. I've tried everything and the things that I've found that have helped him are keeping the lights on for only 7-8 hours a day and always keeping an almond leaf in the tank. I believe the main reason for his stress and fin biting is the light situation since he has not once touched his fin since I've limited the amount of light he gets. I've done numerous things to fix the problem such as using stress coat in water changes, almond leaves, bettafix, etc. Try these things if your betta is still having problems.
