Help with new fishes

I have 2 tinfoil barbs and 1 iridescent shark in an almost 12 gallon tank. I know it’s small but I’ll shift them once they grow up more. Both the shark and one of my tinfoil barbs are new and I bought them 2 days back. My other tinfoil has been with me for 3 weeks. The problem is:
1- both my tinfoil barbs have 2 blue dots on their faces like nostrils. I can’t figure out what’s happening to them. They’re fairly active but I’m a bit concerned about the dots forming.
2- my iridescent shark has decided to play dead and has been upside down since the past half hour. I can see his lungs moving so he’s breathing but he hasn’t moved even when I wiggled my finger in front of him which usually scared him. I read online that they tend to do that but it’s worrying me a lot. He also had ich, which I found out about 3-4 hrs after I bought him from the shop.

the tank temperature is 24 celsius but I can’t measure the water conditions as I don’t have the kit for that. Please help me .

I would start with a water change to see if the fish perk up as it sounds like possible ammonia stress from the tank being overstocked

Not sure what the blue dots could be.... Does it look anything like ammonia burns?

Unfortunately whoever sold you the fish gave you bad advice

Tinfoil barbs can up to 14 inches/30+ cm and iridescent sharks get up to 4 feet/ 47 inches

These are seriously massive fish so unless you can upgrade to a 300g+ system I'd either return them or rehome them

For the ich, slowly increasing the heat up to 30c (if your fish can tolerate those temps) and regular water changes should treat it as well as adding aquarium salt though since the shark is technically a catfish I'd halve the dose or just stick to heat treatment

If you don't have a water testing kit I'd try asking the pet store to see if they could test your water as most pet stores offer that service

I’d rehome the fish if I were you. They sadly fall into the category of fish that should never be commonly sold. Since you don’t know about the nitrogen cycle, I think there’s very little hope of success long-term.

As other already said these are monster fish. You'll need a 300-400 gallon tank minimum for them. I would return them a.s.a.p. Maybe start a new thread asking for proper stocking suggestions for your tank.

thanks for the advice, although my shark got up and started roaming around like normal after almost half an hour. Half an hour of torturing me with anxiety. I don’t know what ammonia burns look like so I’ll search up on that.

I would rehome them later on as I’m a student and don’t have the luxury to buy another tank rn but thanks for the advice

Rehome as in give them to someone with a larger tank or return them and get different fish that are suitable for your tank. Tinfoil Barbs grow pretty fast, they can grow an inch every month. Your tinfoil barbs will be the size of your tank in no time. It's only going to become a headache if you keep them.
