HI so I have a 65 gallon tank that currently has no lid and I would like to make a canopy or at least figure out a way to have a glass lid or something that I can put a light on top of and still have easy access to my aquarium. The only problem is... there is no support beam down the middle of the tank making it nearly impossible to find a lid. I don't know what to do, I have been researching for about a month now and have had no success. Please help me ! I'd like to have a glass lid somehow but if a canopy is the only way to go I will go that route. Keep in mind I need a space in the back for heater cables etc. I will post a photo of my current set up when I get home.

Thanks a bunch,
Liz

You could always make your own? I got glass cut from Lowe's and use that on my tanks. You can get fancy and get 2 pieces and hinges so you can lift the front part up.

You can try and get 2 pieces of glass cut to length of your tank at about 3/4" thick from a local glass shop and get -outside corner molding- from home depot..its about 5 bucks for an 8' length, and make a sliding glass top

Thanks guys! I'll try to figure out how to have my canister filter spray bar tube on the left side (I have to, it doesn't reach far enough for the back.) I think I can just cut a slot in the side for it. I'll try to make my own sliding ones this weekend!

Like they said, make your own. Or if you have one that is close you only need to make a lip wide enough and strong enough to catch it. Similar to the smaller tanks that have lids that fit on those small rims around the edge. Just need to make your own lips or cross beam support for the weight of the extra large glass.
