Ok so I just bought a gourami for my 20 gallon and I just realized that it had ich. I also have the medication and a plastic tub that probably has around a gallon in it. Would this work or do I need something bigger?

I imagine you'd need something bigger, mainly because of the size of gouramis. Think 5-10 gallons and leave him in there for around two weeks with a filter and a heater.

Also, can we get a picture of the gourami? Sometimes people confuse columnaris with ich.

I found a 5-gallon tub! I put him in a cup to take a better pic... I also don’t have a spare filter. Where I live, it's always around 70-80 degrees... Do I need a heater too? What should I do?

Actually that temp is fine... you won't need a heater. You do need a filter as you aren't doing a bath, but you are keeping him in there for a few weeks.

Yep, I think that is ich.

Was the gourami in the aquarium with other fish? I’d so it’s best to treat the entire tank if possible (depends on what fish you have and if you can use meds).
Raising the tank temp 2 degrees every 1-2 hours until aquarium temp is 84-86F. You will want to add additional air/agitation to increase oxygen levels (higher water temps hold less O2). Finally, gravel vac and do 30-40% water changes every 3 days. Do this for 2 weeks.
