Help With Cycling A Tank

HI I’m new to here and to cycling my first fish tank but I’ve been doing a fish less cycle for almost 2 weeks now. The past 2 days my ammonia and nitrite have been at 0.50ppm with nitrate levels of 40ppm. Today I checked my water parameters and my ammonia is at 0.25ppm and nitrite at 2.0ppm and my nitrate is around 80ppm. My question is should I add more ammonia(dr.tims) at this point or let it ride out until I get a reading of 0ppm. Or is there anything else I need to do at this point.

Here are all my water parameters throughout my cycle:

1stday: I didn’t add ammonia just filter media from a friends established fish tank.

Ammonia:0.25ppm
Nitrite:0ppm
Nitrate:0ppm

2nd day:

Ammonia:0.25ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate:0ppm

3rd day:
Ammonia:0.25ppm
Nitrite:0ppm
Nitrate:0ppm

4th day: I finally received my ammonia(dr.tims)

Ammonia:2ppm
Nitrite:0ppm
Nitrate:0ppm

5th day:
Ammonia:2.0
Nitrite:1.0ppm
Nitrate:5.0ppm
Tested again that night because I received sachem stability
Ammonia: 1.0ppm
Nitrite:2.0ppm
Nitrate:10ppm

6th day
Ammonia:1.0ppm
Nitrite:5.0ppm
Nitrite:10-20ppm
Had to add more water because there was a lot of evaporation+ me using the water to test.
Ammonia:0.50ppm
Nitrite:0.50ppm
Nitrate:20ppm

7th day:
Ammonia:1.0ppm
Nitrite:2.0ppm
Nitrate:40ppm

8th day:
Ammonia:1.0ppm
Nitrite:2.0ppm
Nitrate:80-160ppm( couldn’t pinpoint color)

9th day:
Ammonia:0.50ppm
Nitrite:0.50ppm
Nitrate:20-40ppm (I couldn’t tell)
(I added ammonia to 1.0ppm)

10th day:
Ammonia:0.50ppm
Nitrite:0.50ppm
Nitrate:40-80ppm( couldn’t tell)

Today:
Ammonia:0.25ppm
Nitrite: 2.0ppm
Nitrate: 80-160ppm (couldn’t tell again)

My ph has been around 7.5-7.6 throughout the cycle

My tank is planted with dwarf hair grass. I do have a filter going, air stone and heater (80 degrees) running 24/7. I used sechem prime to condition my tap water and I use sechem stability. I also use a c02 booster and leaf zone for my plants.

So looking at those numbers you have .25 ammonia right out of the tap (not uncommon)?

I would wait until both ammonia and nitrites are at zero, then re-dose to 2ppm. When your tank can process 2ppm of ammonia and read zero ammonia and zero nitrite in 24 hours, you are good to go.

Edit to add: 24 hours

Thank you for your reply! I will wait to add ammonia! Thank you so much for your help!

I agree with Morpheus1967
you may have .25 ammonia out of the tap. but the ammonia test kit is +/- .25 ppm, so it may be 0 when it looks like .25 ppm. I agree with what he said about redosing and such.

if you haven't done any water changes yet...
I would recommend a 50% change when your nitrates are about 80 ppm. water changes are recommended when you max out nitrates. this will replenish minerals in the water and reduce the risk of your cycle stalling.

Okayy! I am in the middle of a 50% water change now! Thank you for your help!
