Help with a Coral Life 125G Protein Skimmer

I have a Coral Life 125G protein skimmer of which I am using as a hang on back skimmer. My issue is I cannot get it to stop filling my entire tank with micro-bubbles. I have adjusted everything that was on the you tube videos with no luck. it said let it run for a while ant they will go away I ran for 4 days and they were going still full force. The fish do not like all the bubbles and hide in the farthest corner away from the skimmer. The good thing is after I run it the water is crystal clear and the cup has a good amount of debris. I now run it for a couple hours everyday and then shut it off. it was not cheap and I want to use it but not at the cost of making the fish uncomfortable. Help!!!

Do you have the foam on the return lone into the aquarium? If not try that.
Skimmers are tough. There job is to make a lot of micro bubbles to function properly. Post a close up picture of how you have it set up.

is there an adjustable out flow. Could you add a 90 elbow to it and direct it at the tank glass in a lower flow area so the bubbles rise.

There is adjuster for airflow on the intake. There is just an air hole on the outflow of which I have covered. The intake air is at its minimum.

Just curious and it’s hard to tell without seeing it.

I see the skimmer is not on currently but you still have bubbles in the tank? Also the water level seems a bit low. Could simply increasing the water level in the tank help out? Also if the skimmer is not running where are the bubbles coming from now?

The other bubbles are coming from air bubbler. I mixed some top off water this morning. I am also doing a 20 % water change this weekend.

Wow that is a lot of bubbles for the skimmer. I’m assuming that’s what the last picture is?
Can you get a small skimmer box to put the Return line for the skimmer in or turn the skimmer on at night while the fish are relaxing/hiding?
Here’s the skimmer box I’m speaking of. It would just have the water with the bubbles go in it then the water would flow to the top and spill over but most of the bubbles would rise to the top. I’d think you’d still have some bubbles exit it. The larger the box the less bubbles would escape.

that sounds like an idea... I don't see the box though?

Sorry the link didn’t attach. So this is just a general idea of what I speaking about. It’s called an over flow box or overflow weir. Look around and look at the sizes and see what will work best for your situation. If you can get a longer skinnier one and pitch it from left to right the water will flow away from the skimmer output and the bubbles will have longer time to float to the top. Hope that makes sense??!!!
