Help!! Weird worms!!

Feeding my tank like normal until I spotted some small worms on top of my fish tank. They are able to be seen by the eye, and have not noticed them until today. Only different thing I did was add a few odessa barbs, but nothing else. How do I get rid of them?

Forgot to mention I did a large gravel vacuum that I have been putting off for a while.

Probably detritus worms. They may have been in your tank for a while and the deep gravel vac stirred them up. Most of us have had these worms in our tanks at one time or another. If they are in fact detritus worms they are totally harmless.

Thanks! I was worried lol, don't want any unknown worms in my tank. Should I still try to remove them?

I got all kinds of aquatic micro-creatures in my tanks until they were well established. Each new one kinda concerned me but everything I read about each one told me they were totally harmless and would eventually go away on their own. They did

Your fish may actually snack on these little guys if they don't just disappear on their own. You may want to try to get a much closer photo of these worms so someone can positively identify them to put your mind to rest about them. Deep gravel vacs with each water change should remove the food they are eating and lots of them. No food means they will stop breeding as fast.

I got a closer look, and their head seems to be round (not like planaria). Was really worried that they might be planaria, but pictures of detritus seems to match the worms in my tank.

Yeah, I think everything's fine, those look exactly like Detrius worms. They are actually beneficial as they snack on waste and toxins. My Betta gobbles them up all the time. If you want them mostly gone you can suck them off the glass with a gravel vacuum.
