Help understanding kh and gh

Tappy4me

Help me please! I feel like an idiot.

I just got my api gh and kh test kit today.

My 55 gal has a kh and gh of 3.

My 20 gal has a kh of 1 and gh of 3.

My pH is 6.5. Kh and gh are 3 straight from my tap. I have well water.

What part do you need help with? That all sounds ok to me although your water is pretty soft. Ideal for certain species of fish though.

The 20g kh is lower than your tap as it decreases over time but a water change or 2 will fix that and bring it back up to the correct level.

I should have proofread. The rest of my post disappeared.

Is like to be able to keep a little wider variety of live plants. My current water conditions won't support them living more than a few months.

What can I use to raise our just a degree or so, so that it's not a big swing? Something I don't have to constantly calculate and is easy? Lol

Aside from my endlers, the rest of my fish are suited for my water conditions thankfully.

You can use wondershells. It is a compacted mineral block that you can add to your tank, and it will slowly dissolve over time. Crushed coral will also work. Some people add pieces of cuttlebone but I don’t know how effective that is
