Help, Sick Pleco

I don't know what breed he is. but yesterday I changed him to a smaller tank as my other pleco died, he seemed really happy in there and then this morning he's laying on his side or back still breathing but not moving when I lightly touched him with the net his fins were STIFF and sticking out, is he dyeing.

 

HI check the water parameters and chemistry using a test kit also what symptoms does he have like any spots or anything you might also need to clean the tank but use aquasafe first , syphoning the gravel also helps, it could be the water is not oxygenated enough so many sure you're filter is bubbling the water well and the filter media is clean and if it need replacing. He may also need a heater if he is tropical.

 

hi, the water is all good and he's his normal black and brown colour the tank I put him in is brand new and the water is from the original tank

 

The water from the original tank may be the problem I would do a 50% water change using fresh tap water but use aquasafe! otherwise the chlorine will kill him, if not try and use an all in one remedy if you aren't sure if it is a disease.

Mine did that right before he succumbed to swim bladder. Poor thing couldn't stay attached to anything because he'd float. Then he finally lost his fight

Before getting any more fish, please learn about the nitrogen cycle. A properly cycled tank will make a huge difference for the well-being of your fish.
