Well, first off, it might be because they are so cramped, therefore stressed. Wdym by "country well water"? I had a similar experience with my Neons (SIP), they had this same issue, and it was infectious, or it just killed everything once the infected died. Move her into a quarantine tank ASAP, as she could become infectious/kill others. Have any other Bettas shown signs of distress?

Hey,
I would separate and add tannins(Indian almond leaves or anything else that release tannins) to whatever setup you then keep her in as she recovers. Keep up frequent water changes(daily).
Swim bladder issues are usually symptomatic rather than the actual cause. Getting to the root of the issue can be very hard. My guess would be a spat that ended badly for her, either a physical wound or excess stress leaving her immune system open to any pathogens around in the water.

Thank you for the reply!

I've had bettas like that for years and no issues. I can't have a 5-10 gallon for each breeder or juvenile when I sometimes have 100s lol.

I'm in the country, and the water coming out of the faucet is unsoftened well water. I've been fishkeeping for over 8 years with the same water. Could something new have happened with the water? I would think that would affect everyone though? I have hundreds of guppies, countless snails, and over a dozen bettas.

I did put her in a QT right after posting this.

Nope, everyone else is all good. Eating, swimming around, no injuries, etc. This literally popped up since i fed her this morning.

I wish you all the luck I hope everything turns out ok :(

I've got her in a QT, and will defiantly add IA for tannins. Thx!
