Got this from my LFS today, I swear i thought it was a male (I wanted one) but now I'm not so sure...

It's very young so hard to tell.

    Help is much appreciated. 20190324_014859.20190323_213854.20190323_213608.

It’s either to young or the colors are washed out by stress. Let it sit in. The tank till it colors up and than post another pic. Right now I’m saying female.

Thanks for the reply and UPDATE:

Now after 24h and that the stress went down, this is how it looks like (maybe this will help better identify the gender)

found an interesting vid on how to tell their gender. but think it applies more so when they have fully matured. still an interesting short vid.

It’s still young and rainbows are slow growers so it may take a year to really sex it. But I’m still going with female. Males usually have the black/blue lines going down the center of the body. Pic below my male is on right female on left. 54A218CD-54A4-4683-B515-395FB6A96B48.

Unfortunately the fish did not survive. It got done weird bladder like disease and was swimming upside down. Since I bought it from Petco I just returned it. The fish tank it came from had a lot of other dead fish too. Bad maintained store. Went to my petco of trust and got me a nice male (big enough to identify) which is already developing very well on my tank! Thanks all for the support.
