Help Required What is This?

    I looked in the new tank set up and noticed this on my wood what has caused this and is it harmful etc,To me it looks like a type of mold or something along them lines.

    It's a fungus, quite common on new wood & harmless.
    It should go away on it's own or you could take it out, run boiling water over it & give it a scrub.

    I had that wood in the other tank and the newer wood has none on it,i had scrubbed it etc then i noticed that,and thought oh no here we go if i put fish in this when i get back from my holidays they fishies would die,that would be my luck.

    LOVE the tank, all that wood is so pretty! can't wait to see it stocked! enjoy your jollies, hopefully i'll have some sort of background when you get back :) xxx

    A lot of wood does this. Its caused by mold/fungal spores in the wood, which make a break for it when they get wet. It doesn't live long in water though, and a lot fish will eat it.

    At least its safe for the fishies once they go in there,just wasnt sure on it as never had it on my wood before :)
